Whole Person Detox

A cleanse is done to help rid the body of substances regarded as toxic or unhealthy. Typically when we think of cleansing we think of our physical body. We cleanse our body of foods like gluten, caffeine, sugar and alcohol. The goal is to feel better and increase our natural energy.

What if the substances we need to cleanse are not things we ingest but things we experience and feel?

Not all toxins are biological. There are toxins that impact our psychological, emotional, and spiritual health as well. With advancement in technology comes the challenge to decide how to handle all the world’s information and problems. We have experienced greater stress the past few years and as a result we have seen increases in health and mental health disorders. So what can we do?

We can cleanse our bodies, minds, and souls to live a healthy and vibrant life.

How do we cleanse the whole self?

Starting with the biological toxins is the easiest way to begin. There are many elimination diets out there. The basic cleanses will have you eliminate foods and chemicals that are known to be irritating to the digestive system. For example; dairy products, gluten, caffeine, nuts, sugar, and items that have a high glycemic index value. It is recommended that we eat a diet of whole foods and drink plenty of water to help flush toxins from the body.

To cleanse the mind and soul you will need to set aside time everyday to just sit with a quiet mind.

Practice simple breathing techniques like breathing in through the nose to the count of 5, holding for 5, and releasing through your mouth to the count of 5. Notice the air coming into your nose. What is the temperature of the air? What are you smelling? The simple act of breathing can help us reduce stress and its impact on our bodies.

A gratitude journal can help to cleanse the soul. The simple act of practicing gratitude can help your sleep, mood, and even immunity.
