Living Intentionally – Summer Edition
Summer is a great time for memories. One of my favorite memories from when my kids were little was something we called a “kidnap breakfast in the park.” The moms in our neighborhood coordinated a surprise morning adventure—we woke our kids up at the break of dawn, didn’t tell them where we were going, and took off on a stroll in their pajamas. As the sun was rising, we arrived at the park pavilion where orange juice, donuts, and games were waiting. They still talk about how fun it was to eat breakfast and play in the early morning light, still half-asleep and in their PJs. It was simple, creative, and unforgettable.
That’s the magic of summer—when we pause the rush, lean into spontaneity, and create moments that leave lasting joy.
But let’s be honest: summer always goes by faster than we think. I like to think of it as a solid stretch of three great months—starting June 1 and wrapping up after the State Fair. Yet within a few weeks, stores will be stocking back-to-school supplies, and life will start pushing us forward again.
That’s why the key to a meaningful summer lies in slowing down and being intentional with how we spend it.
At ithrive31®, we use a personal development approach called Living Intentionally—a 31-day framework that invites you to write down the things that bring you energy in all areas of your life. It’s a simple way to reconnect with what matters and create short-term momentum that leads to lasting impact.
You can apply this same approach to your summer. As the season begins, take a moment to reflect and write down:
- What fun things are you looking forward to this summer?
- In what ways can you make your summer meaningful?
- What is your “one word” that will guide your summer?
Post your answers somewhere you’ll see them regularly—on your nightstand, in your planner, your journal, or even your refrigerator.
A variation to this theme is to involve your kids. Create a summer vision board together and build a season of memories with intention and joy.
Coming June 10: Our June Newsletter will include 31 Hello Summer Activities for free download—one for adults and one for kids. They’re filled with low-cost, creative, and playful ideas to make Summer 2025 one to remember.
